Promoting Beneficial Garden Insects
Garden pest problems can largely result from not having yards which are enticing to beneficial predatory insects and parasites. The more naturally balanced ecosystems keep these pests in check and function as natural insecticides of undesirable plant pests.
There are many biological pest controls available from nurseries and online, but an effective way to attract and promote your own is through the planting and cultivation of beneficial flowers. Some examples are asters, coneflowers and other daisylike native wildflowers, as well as popular culinary herbs such as dill and parsley that produce inverted parasol-shaped inflorescences.
