“Easy greens” in planter
For the life of me I cannot understand why more folks don’t grow greens. They are so tasty and good for you, grow through much of the year (except they do bolt in the heat), and grow like weeds with a little care. I especially like mustard greens because they are so easy to grow and are very productive. The ones I have planted here are “India” and this variety has a little bit of zing to it.
As can be seen in the pic (enlarged), I have also planted a couple of broccoli plants in the rubbermaid container. The broccoli is a bit crowded and I should have just planted all greens. I planted these greens from seed about 2 1/2 months ago and have already harvested themĀ 3 times! Each time there is enough to feed my wife and I and still have a helping for left overs. We like to cook these using a little olive oil and garlic (and alternately, add some pepper sauce). Once again, these are grown using completely natural means and this just illustrates how much you can grow in a small space with little effort!
